Sizing / Measurments

Our sizes are unique to our brand - so it's important to measure your dog correctly to ensure you get the right size. We hope the information on this page helps you find the perfect fit for your pup! Below you will find our measuring diagram, and additional size information for certain products.

Where to measure

Measuring your dog sounds simple… but you’d be surprised how many people get it wrong. And with every brand measuring a bit differently, it’s no wonder it can be a challenge!

This diagram is for OUR products - so grab a soft tape and measure accurately (no guessing, and please don’t “add a few cm for good measure”). The tape needs to be firm - (but not too tight ) around your dog.

Dogs come in all shapes and sizes; unfortunately, like human clothes, it's important to remember that not every style works for every shape. If your pup’s in-between sizes or tricky to fit, we’re here to help - just send us a message over on our contact page.

We've included some helpful videos below - please have a watch as they will be able to assist you in choosing the perfect size for your pup!

Toby & Maple's measurements

Maple: Neck 29cm, Chest 46cm, Back 40cm, Weight 6.8kg

Toby: Neck 49cm, Chest 79cm, Back 61cm, Weight 36kg

This video shows exactly how to measure your dog for our jackets (and yes, we also cover collars and harnesses). We also explain where we take the length measurement of our jackets from, and how that measurement actually translates to the fit on your dog - including where the jacket sits and how it’s adjusted.

Watch the video, measure properly, and if something still feels off - send us a message. We’re always happy to help!

POINTER & HOUND Jackets

Our jackets fit different to stock-standard dog jackets. Why? Because we have designed them and tailored the fit and measurements. This is a exclusive style and sizing to POINTER & HOUND.

Our Waterproof Jacket and Highland Coat are the same style and sizing - but the Highland Coat's material is thicker and heavier.

Here you can find the measurements for our jackets. Please note: Breed and Weight on the chart is only an estimate. These jackets are very adjustable around the chest strap, and can be pulled in at the neck with a bungee cord. The length can even be slightly shortened by cinching in the bungee cord above the tail.

Jacket Sizing

The main thing people get confused about is back length. We have added two measurements in the chart - the measurement outside the brackets is from the seam at the neck to the base of the jacket. The second measurment (inside the brackets) includes the neck piece - so this measures from the top of the neck piece to the base of the jacket. The neck can be cinched in, or left loose - when left loose, the jacket can sit further back on the dog, which contributes quite a bit of additional length to the jacket.

Alternatively, the jacket can be pulled up higher around the dogs neck and cinched in with the bungee cord to shorten the length and be positioned up higher around the dogs neck.

Watch our measuring guide video to better understand this.

POINTER & HOUND Harnesses

Our main two harness styles are the Signature Harness and the Tactical Harness.

The Signature Harness is suitable for dogs that are extra small to extra large. It's lightweight yet durable, and comes in 6 sizes to help cater for those dogs who are in between sizes.

The Tactical Harness is designed for medium to extra large dogs - and the sizing of this style runs larger because of this. Its heavier, and super tough. Great for dogs who are hard on gear, active, or deeper chested.

Follow the measurement areas in the diagram above to get your dogs neck and chest measurements, then carefully compare them to the measurements on the product pages.
