Our Team
About Us
Hello dog lovers,
I’m Christina - the founder of POINTER & HOUND, a small local business based in Christchurch, New Zealand. I live here with my husband, Rowan, and our two dogs - Toby, our German Shorthaired Pointer, and Maple, our Miniature Dachshund. An unusual pairing, I know, but they’re the best of friends and the heart behind the name Pointer & Hound.
POINTER & HOUND was born from a simple frustration. While there was no shortage of dog products on the market, I struggled to find pieces that reflected my own style. I was looking for timeless designs, refined colours, and understated details, but I also needed products that genuinely fit my long, lean dogs. Too often I found myself choosing between aesthetics and functionality, wondering why practical, high-quality dog gear couldn't be beautifully designed too.
When I couldn't find what I was looking for, I decided to create it.
From day one, I've been involved in every aspect of building POINTER & HOUND. I design our products, do the photography and marketing, manage our website, work closely with our manufacturers, and remain deeply involved in customer experience. Every collection is developed with careful attention to quality, fit, and longevity because I believe dog gear should not only perform exceptionally well, but also be something you're proud to use every day.
As the business has grown, so has our team. My younger sister now supports our customer service and operations, and we've recently welcomed our first full-time marketing team member. We've also expanded into professional fulfilment centres across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom, allowing us to deliver a better experience for our customers while continuing to grow sustainably.
Despite that growth, POINTER & HOUND remains a very personal business. Every decision is made with the same purpose that inspired the brand from the beginning: to create thoughtfully designed dog gear that combines exceptional quality, timeless aesthetics, and everyday functionality. We're still a small team, but we're incredibly passionate about what we do, and we're only just getting started!
Thank you for supporting our business. Every order means more than you know, and we're truly grateful you've chosen to be part of our journey. We hope you and your dog love your POINTER & HOUND pieces for many adventures to come!
The Dogs
Meet Toby (the Pointer)
Toby is mine and Rowan's first fur baby. He is a big boy, keen hunter but also a total softy. He prefers toys over treats, so that makes him our chief toy tester here at Pointer & Hound. He also puts our gear to the ultimate test to make sure its worthy for you!
He loves hugs, snores loud and is super needy (its definitely a GSP thing). Toby is definitely a 'Dads boy' - he loves going to work with Rowan because he gets to run around in the outdoors all day - what a life!
Toby will be proudly modelling our products, so you'll see lots of him looking handsome across our website and social media. He wears a size L in most of our products, but also an XL in some.
Toby's Size:
Neck 49cm, Chest 79cm, Back 61cm, Weight 36kg
The Dogs
Meet Maple (the Hound)
Introducing miss Maple, my soul dog and little shadow.
Maple is your typical dachshund - stubborn, needy, barks (a lot), loves food...and so irresistibly cute. She may be small in size but makes up for it with her large personality. She loves people and playing with her fur friends.
She's always by my side, knows lots of tricks (will do anything for food) and loves to howl at sirens.
You'll see lots more of Maple modelling our products as she brings the 'cute' factor to our brand. She wears the smallest sizes in all our products - except the jackets, in these she is a size S due to her long dachshund back!
Maple's Size:
Neck 29cm, Chest 46cm, Back 40cm, Weight 6.8kg
Doing our bit
Supporting Dogs in Need
Since launching POINTER & HOUND in 2023, we’ve donated over $25,000 worth of product to organisations doing incredible work for dogs in need, including SPCA, Dog Watch, and Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue.
Supporting local rescues and welfare groups is something we genuinely care about - from providing practical gear for dogs in their care, to photographing long-stay dogs and sharing their stories across our social platforms to help increase adoption awareness.
As the brand continues to grow, giving back to dogs in need will always be close to our hearts and remain a meaningful part of our journey.
